Phase One:

WE MET our 2010 Goals to pass Autism Insurance Reform in 2011. THANK YOU to the brave legislators that supported autism insurance reform in Virginia. We are grateful to all of you for your courage and we ask that you continue to work with us.

Phase Two

NOW we have to Implement the law we passed. VAP is requesting help in 2012:

  • BCBAs and BCaBAs in Virginia contact: Megan Miller, BCBA at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Megan is coordinating the BCBAs and BCaBAs contact information so that we can send out action notices and bill updates.
  • Donate to the Virginia Autism Project: We are an all-volunteer organization without paid staff. All our financial support goes toward the education of legislators and the public on the needs of the autism community.
  • GET ON OUR ACTION NOTICE LIST to receive action notices during the session and then ACT to email, call or come to Richmond.
  • Volunteer WITH US: EMAIL Pat DiBari, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you can help with any of the following:
    • Medical Community Coordinators: We need to reach out to the Virginia medical professionals and coordinate their support for autism insurance reform in Virginia.
    • District Coordinators: Be a District Representative in each of the 100 legislative districts in Virginia to coordinate contact between parents and legislators.
    • Web and Internet coordinators: We need to improve our web and internet presence to allow better more efficient and timely access to the families with Autism across Virginia. If you're a techie we need you!
    • Business Coordinators: We need to reach out to business leaders in each area and ask for their support of the autism insurance reform.
    • Media support and relations coordinators: We need advocates in every area in the State that are ready willing and able to notify the Media in their markets of our efforts.
    • Regional community support coordinators: We need locally based parents and advocates who can rally and coordinate efforts among autism support groups to support Autism Insurance Reform.
